Marty's review: this second album release from Tammi Savoy and The Chris Casello Combo proves what a powerful combination these artists are. With the dynamic and thrilling vocal style from Tammi Savoy that is straight out of 50's rhythm and blues and the "rockingest" guitar of Mr.Chris Casello, this release is guaranteed to have you boppin', rollin', reelin' and rockin'. The recording techniques are what makes it special as the rawness and spontaneity harks back to the glorious 50's and 60's. A superb effort!

Billy Swan and Buzz Cason new release Billy & Buzz Sing Buddy...tribute to Buddy Holly

On Billy & Buzz Sing Buddy, the new album from Billy Swan and Buzz Cason, the Nashville music legends revisit the songs of one of their first musical heroes, pioneering rocker Buddy Holly.

“We both have a lot of love for Buddy Holly,” says Swan, who is best known for “I Can Help,” his 1974 No. 1 hit. “He was the real deal.”

The album, which was released by Arena Recordings on August 17, features 11 songs originally recorded by Holly, plus a song about Holly, “Thank You Buddy,” co-written by Cason and Swan. “We figured that would be a nice way to wrap up the album,” says Cason, who is most widely recognized as the co-writer of the pop and R&B standard, “Everlasting Love,” and the producer of Robert Knight’s original hit recording of the song.

Interestingly, both Cason and Swan have a connection to Holly’s old band, The Crickets. In the early 1960's, Cason co-wrote and produced The Cricket’s hit, “They Call Her La Bamba” before joining the band as lead singer for a year. The Crickets continued to make records over the decades, and in the mid-1990's, they covered a song written by Swan, “Betty Sue’s Still Breaking Jimmy Lee’s Heart.” Crickets drummer Jerry Allison even makes an appearance on Billy & Buzz Sing Buddy, contributing percussion to their cover of “Well...All Right.”

I’m Lookin’ For Someone To Love” is slated to be the first single from Billy & Buzz Sing Buddy, and they have already posted their hilarious music video for the song to YouTube. Conceived by Cason and featuring a cameo by rockabilly guitar legend Scotty Moore, to whom the album is dedicated, the video was shot at various locations around Nashville including the Tennessee Central Railway Museum, Centennial Park, and Lower Broad.

Marty's review: What can I say about this brilliant album, it's a classic! Whether you're a Buddy Holly fan or not (and who isn't), Billy and Buzz have done a superb job with their passionate renditions of these timeless songs. Buddy and The Crickets would certainly approve as will their legions of fans.

Ed Cavin & The Blue Kings debut album release Street Joint... a new generation of Rockers!

Street Joint” is the debut album from Swedish rockers Ed Cavin and The Blue Kings. It's filled with prime 50’s style rockin’ music delivered with that youthful enthusiasm just as it was back in the day. 16 tracks in all, fast paced rockers, mid-tempo boppers and a couple of slow numbers makes the album a treat.

A selection of covers and original songs, although they sure have put their own mark on the covers, just listen to the Lightnin’ Hopkins song ”The Life I Used to Live” here turned into a SUN styled Rockabilly tune.

These youngsters made an immediate impact back in 2016 when they released a video for their version of the classic song ”Love Me” originally by The Phantom. As a result they got requests for gigs not only in Sweden but also around Europe, and they sure went down a storm when they hit the stages. In 2017 they released a limited edition 7” with the self-penned track ”Don’t Be Like That” and the aforementioned ”Love Me” on the flip side. It further spread word about the band around the globe, and the 7” is now almost sold out. Not bad for a couple of local teenagers from the Enviken area that barely had a drivers license when they started out.

It is no doubt that this album will take the band to stages where they have never been before.

Marty's review: These young guys just ROCK and bring the house down on this their debut album. Sounding like they are coming straight out of the 1950's, the raw energy and talent comes across on this 16 tracker that will have you boppin', rollin', reelin' and rockin'!

Tammi Savoy and The Chris Casello Combo new release "Rhythm and Roll"..vintage 50's sounds

Sometimes the best results happen from unplanned events.  Tammi Savoy coming together with The Chris Casello Combo is one of those results.  Chris had Tammi jump on stage at one of his shows to do a cover of Lavern Baker's "Jim Dandy" and the place went crazy.  They recorded a few covers at his home studio with plans to record an original releasing this fall on Swelltune records and the show offers started pouring in.  The chemistry between their styles is immediately evident.  This feels like an album recorded in the late 50's but with a freshness to it that will blow you away.

Imagine a young woman with a powerful soulful voice that nails the classic 40’s, 50's and early 60's R&B and rock and roll sounds. Match that with a great stage presence and drop dead gorgeous looks accompanying a perfect visual adherence to mid century vintage style. Now combine her with the killer rockabilly instrumentation of slapping upright bass, swinging drums and virtuoso guitar and you’ve got Tammi Savoy and The Chris Casello Combo.

Miss Tammi grew up listening to classic rhythm and blues, rock ’n’ roll and jazz. She is the baby sister of the multi platinum contemporary R&B phenom Next. Tammi, however digs deep into the roots of American soul. Tammi effortlessly captures the feel and sounds of Ruth Brown, Laverne Baker, Sarah Vaughan and many more obscure greats of that genre.

Chris Casello is a veteran of Detroit, Nashville and Chicago music scenes. Mr. Casello is the 2017 Ameripolitan Musician of the year and has played in over a dozen countries; backed up countless pioneers of rock, country and blues; voted Best of Nashville Scene Honk Tonk Hero and critic’s choice in 2012. Chris is also a 2nd generation inductee to Rockabilly Hall of Fame and has performed everywhere from The Lincoln Center to the Grand Ol’ Opry.

After meeting at a gig in Chicago the pair started jamming and recording. The basically live recordings from those sessions started receiving an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response from those who were privy to hearing them. Incredibly, in a few short weeks, the group has already made appearances at Viva Las Vegas, the Nashville Boogie and are booked on several festivals from blues and jazz to hot rod shows.

The group, featuring Chicago rhythm section Jesse Woelfel on bass and Russ Deluca on drums have released a new six song EP and are slated for a vinyl single on Swelltune Records for release September 2018. The combined following on the social networks of these two artists is upwards of 25,000+ conservatively. The Tammi Savoy and Chris Casello Combo is contagiously fun and irresistibly danceable. Have a listen and see what the excitement is all about!

Marty's review: Well, what can I say, for anyone into vintage sounds this EP has it all. Sounding like it's coming straight out of the 1950's with a jivin', slappin' and rockin' beat plus Tammi Savoy's powerful vocal delivery, this will have you tapping your toes and clickin' your fingers from start to finish. It literally ROCKS!

Retro artist Cado new single release "My Baby" ... rock and roll with a modern twist

Having been born half a century too late in 1990, Cado is a modern rock and roll artist with an obsession for music of the past! After stealing a Beatles’ album from a record shop aged 10, he was inspired to make music for people to dance to.

Cado, who grew up in County Kildare, Ireland, was mesmerised at an early age by the sound of The Beatles and Chuck Berry and from then commenced a lifelong obsession with music! His father would perform Johnny B. Goode to him and when he heard the hard hitting opening riff featured in back to the future at age 11, he did not hesitate to pick up a guitar and has rarely put it down since!

He spent late 2016 and early 2017 recording his latest EP in a DIY studio in his hometown of Naas. The first single and title track "Satisfy My Soul" was released in August 2017 with an accompanying music video by Second Frame Films. The single garnered positive reviews and received airplay on regional radio. In the summer of 2017 Cado played the lead role in The Buddy Holly Story after which he and the House band “The Delta Cats” joined forces and have since been playing shows across the country as “Cado & The Delta Cats”

Cado’s latest single “My Baby” is the second single from his upcoming “Satisfy My Soul EP.” Mixed by Martin Quinn (The Strypes, Heroes In Hiding) and mastered by Pete Maher, (U2, Jack White). "My Baby” will be available to stream and buy from all online music stores and streaming services.

Marty's review: Cado is back with another hot rockin' tune which pays homage to artists like Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent. Putting his own spin on it, Cado has mastered the sound of classic rock and roll and this release will have you dancing in the aisles from the first note. It has that nice slapping rockabilly beat and Cado's fast paced guitar licks are up front and drive the song from start to finish.

"Hangin' Around"...new release from Mike Teardrop Trio...Slappin' Rockabilly!

Mike Teardrop Trio might be a new name on the Swedish Rockabilly scene but the word is already spreading about this trio that really fills a void with their style and sound. With a driving Slap-bass, harmonies and a touch of good ole country music in there somewhere, they have formed a sound not present in many bands today.

Mike Teardrop himself has played bass with various bands on the Swedish circuit, although he has nurtured a dream to sing and front his own band for some time, so, when teaming up with Rasmus Andersson on guitar and Henrik Ulander on drums, there was no stopping and him and now it’s finally a dream come true!

On their debut album, "Hangin' Around", released through Enviken Records, they have gathered a lot of great songs from their favourite artists like Conway Twitty, Rodney Crowell, Johnny Horton, Russell Scott, Kingcats and lots more.

Tracks:
Hangin’ Around
What A Wonderful Life
Stay True Baby
Don’t Go Too Far
Living Too Fast
She’s Crazy For Leavin'
I’ll Wait Forever
Time Of My Life
Work My Magic
Honky Tonk Hardwood Floor
Next In Line
Six Dollar Trim
Crazy Dreams

That’s It - I Quit – I’m Movin’ On

Marty's review: Fans of rockabilly will eat this one up. A driving beat, slapping bass, twangin' guitar and top-notch vocals combined with a song selection from past and present, these Swedish rockers know how to get you up on your feet, tap your toes and just get things moving. They have combined a vintage sound with a contemporary edge and deliver it in style. Have a look at the track list above and see if you recognise any of these, I know you will.
