Ed Cavin & The Blue Kings debut album release Street Joint... a new generation of Rockers!

Street Joint” is the debut album from Swedish rockers Ed Cavin and The Blue Kings. It's filled with prime 50’s style rockin’ music delivered with that youthful enthusiasm just as it was back in the day. 16 tracks in all, fast paced rockers, mid-tempo boppers and a couple of slow numbers makes the album a treat.

A selection of covers and original songs, although they sure have put their own mark on the covers, just listen to the Lightnin’ Hopkins song ”The Life I Used to Live” here turned into a SUN styled Rockabilly tune.

These youngsters made an immediate impact back in 2016 when they released a video for their version of the classic song ”Love Me” originally by The Phantom. As a result they got requests for gigs not only in Sweden but also around Europe, and they sure went down a storm when they hit the stages. In 2017 they released a limited edition 7” with the self-penned track ”Don’t Be Like That” and the aforementioned ”Love Me” on the flip side. It further spread word about the band around the globe, and the 7” is now almost sold out. Not bad for a couple of local teenagers from the Enviken area that barely had a drivers license when they started out.

It is no doubt that this album will take the band to stages where they have never been before.

Marty's review: These young guys just ROCK and bring the house down on this their debut album. Sounding like they are coming straight out of the 1950's, the raw energy and talent comes across on this 16 tracker that will have you boppin', rollin', reelin' and rockin'!

Ultra-Lounge Volume Six...Rhapsodesia...music and Martinis for lovers only

This is one of the more LAID BACK albums in the Ultra-Lounge series and is an excellent example of the "lounge" genre.

Classic mid century modern music, it's like a soundtrack to Mad Men. Lush arrangements:" Sleep Walk"," Smoke Gets In Your Eyes", "Tenderly", "Girl Talk", and the" Theme From Picnic". Sexy, fun lyrics performed by amazing female vocalists: "Go Slow" by Julie London, "You're My Thrill" by Dolores Gray, and "Do It Again" by April Stevens. Also notable are "Serenata" by the Jonah Jones Quartet and Jackie Gleason's "Tenderly".

For those who are uninitiated, I recommend this as an excellent entry into the genre...though really any of the Ultra Lounge collections would do about as well.
